2 men arrested for allegedly shooting pair of Molokai men

Two Molokai men are in custody facing attempting murder charges, and their two victims are being treated for their gunshot wounds at Queen’s Medical Center.

Maui police said a 32-year-old man from Kaunakakai; and a 26-year-old man from Hoolehua, were arrested on suspicion of attempted first-degree murder Wednesday night.

The pair are being held in the Molokai Police Station pending formal charges.

Police said the shooting occurred near a house on Puu Kapele Avenue in Hoolehua Wednesday afternoon. Officers found two people had been shot near the home, police said.

A 52-year-old Molokai man is critical condition at Queen’s. The second victim — a 37-year-old man — is also hospitalized at Queen’s and is in guarded condition.
