WAILUKU >> Colorado Rockies shortstop Jose Reyes pleaded not guilty Tuesday to allegations of abusing his wife at a Maui resort.
Maui police arrested Reyes after an argument Oct. 31 with his wife that allegedly turned physical at the Four Seasons Resort.
Reyes didn’t attend his arraignment Tuesday on Maui. According to court records, defense attorney David Sereno entered the not-guilty plea on Reyes’ behalf to a charge of abuse of a family or household member.
According to a recording of the 911 call released by police, a hotel security guard reported that the woman had injuries to her left leg and scratches on her neck.
Work furlough inmates sought
Two work furlough inmates are wanted after failing to return to the Hale Nani reintegration center on Hawaii island on Monday.
Devin Saragosa-Taoy and Jensen Yadao, both 24, both left the center for work Monday morning and were supposed to return later that day, but neither showed up, the state Department of Public Safety said.
Saragosa-Taoy was supposed to return by 4:30 p.m. and Yadao by 9:30 p.m., a department spokeswoman said. State sheriffs and county police were notified when the men didn’t report back.
Saragosa-Taoy is 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighs 159 pounds. Yadao is 5 feet 4 inches tall and weighs 120 pounds. Both men have brown hair and eyes. Both are community custody inmates, the lowest security classification.
