Human remains found in Wailuku River last month have been identified as those of Jolee Reiswig, a swimming instructor and businesswoman who had been washed away by the river six months ago, Hawaii County police said Tuesday.
Her remains were found in a tide pool along the river on Feb. 14. Dental comparisons determined the remains were Reiswig’s, police said.
Reiswig, 62, of Kona, brought a guest at her bed-and-breakfast to a pond near an area along the river called Boiling Pots on Sept. 14, according to her friend.
Reiswig and the man were crossing the river on inflatable tubes when the two got caught in the current and Reiswig fell off her tube and was swept downstream in the rapids, firefighters said.
