Scientists are making gains despite obstacles

    University of Hawaii Cancer Center researcher James Turkson opens a special sample freezer that goes down to 84 degrees below zero. The Ghanaian-born scientist, whose mother died of uterine cancer, says many of the cancer-fighting drugs now being used clinically “came from or were inspired by natural products.”

University of Hawaii researchers believe they are on the cusp of significant breakthroughs in the development of anti-cancer drugs that could extend the life span of patients while bringing much-needed revenue to the UH Cancer Center. Read more
