City identifies victim killed by TheBus
The Honolulu Medical Examiner’s Office identified Tuesday a man who may have been sneezing when he was hit and killed by a city bus on St. Patrick’s Day in Chinatown as Robert Condry.
Condry, 56, of the Waikiki/Diamond Head area, died of head injuries from blunt force trauma, the Medical Examiner’s Office said. Condry died March 17 after the bus hit him on Hotel Street in front of Chinatown Gateway Plaza. The incident happened at about 7:30 p.m.
Police said witnesses saw Condry bent over on the sidewalk as he sneezed when he was hit by the bus. He was close to the curb, and it was unknown whether he fell into the street or was too close as the bus approached a stop, police said.
