Police were still searching Thursday for the driver in a fatal hit-and-run that occurred at about 10:30 p.m. Saturday in Lihue.
Eric Shorr, 48, of Wailua was killed in the accident.
The vehicle involved is described as a mid-2000s, slightly lifted Toyota Tacoma or similar body-style pickup truck with tires that extend outside of the body.
The truck is a dark color, possibly gray or black, police said. Its paint was faded and possibly oxidized, and it also has tubular pipe racks that are gray or silver.
As a result of the crash, the truck might have front-end damage, and likely has hood damage near the center of the truck or toward the driver’s side.
The back license plate is believed to have a blue-tinted cover. The front license plate cover would likely be missing or newly replaced.
According to reports, Schorr was walking on Kuhio Highway, just north of the Hanamaulu Bridge, when he was struck by the pickup truck. He was transported to Wilcox Hospital, where he later died.
The driver of the truck did not stop to render aid.
