Bring no-longer-used but beloved musical instruments to Ala Moana Center on Saturday evening to make sure they get a good home.
The nonprofit organization Music for Life Foundation is holding its quarterly instrument drive at the shopping center, and in addition to the feel-good sensation of contributing something for a good cause, donors can stay and be entertained by the Waianae High School marching band. The band was resurrected this year, after an eight-year hiatus, with the help of the foundation, which acquired percussion and brass instruments for the school. The band intends to send members to an all-star state band to march in the 2016 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York.
The foundation also has collected about 30 ukulele, and the school has started a credit course in ukulele.
New, gently used, playable instruments and related music equipment will be accepted from 7 to 7:45 p.m. at Centerstage.
