The Coast Guard rescued three men Monday after their boat capsized about a mile off Port Allen, Kauai.
The rescue was initiated following a 3:36 a.m. emergency call. A 45-foot response boat picked up the three men and brought them to Port Allen.
The rescue was completed by 6 a.m.
Maui man survives 100-foot plunge in car
A 60-year-old Wailuku man survived after his car apparently ran off Piilani Highway in Kahikinui, Maui, and plunged about 100 feet down a cliff.
A passer-by heard the man calling for help from inside the vehicle at 11:33 a.m. Sunday and called police.
Police and firefighters located the man and airlifted him to safety. He was then taken to Maui Medical Center in serious but stable condition.
OCCC inmate on work furlough arrested
Oahu Community Correctional Center inmate Glenn Bisarra was arrested by state sheriffs Saturday in Kakaako.
Bisarra, 33, failed to return after work to the Laumaka Work Furlough Center on Thursday.
He was serving time for second-degree assault.
