Trump adviser: Women should be ones to decide on abortion

ASSOCIATED PRESS

In this photo taken March 4, 2016, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump speaks during a rally at Macomb Community College in Warren, Mich. Trump says he can win the state and the entire the Upper Midwest by promising to back out of the North American Free Trade Agreement, the treaty blamed for the loss of countless Rust Belt jobs.

WASHINGTON >> One of Donald Trump’s potential running mates said Sunday that women should be the ones to decide whether or not to have abortions.

Women “are the ones that have to make the decision because they’re the…ones that are going to decide to bring up that child or not,” Ret. Army Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn said on ABC’s “This Week.”

Flynn’s statement counters Republican policy asserting constitutional rights for the unborn.

Flynn is one of several people Trump, that presumptive Republican nominee, is considering for his vice president. Trump is expected to announce his decision at week’s end.

Trump says he opposes abortion, with exceptions. But he’s struggled over the issue. In March, he said on MSNBC that women should be punished for having illegal abortions. He then said doctors who perform the procedure are the ones who should be punished.

“are the ones that have to make the decision because they’re the…ones that are going to decide to bring up that child or not,”

By this logic it would be OK to kill a toddler.

And if the mother and the child are going to be fully supported by the father, he has the right to kill them both off?

    What a dumb remark.

    • krusha says:

Let me guess, you’re a guy? Seems like men want to make all the decisions for the women and take away any option for them, then end up not wanting to take any responsibility for the child after they are born. The GOP base are pretty much all pro life until after the child is born.

      • Rite80 says:

Republican’s are pro-fetus and anti-life once the baby is born.

        • Ronin006 says:

And Democrats says it is ok to slaughter unborn humans and inhumane to sentence murderers to death.

        • Tita Girl says:

          Pro-fetus and pro death penalty.
Libs are for abortion and against the death penalty.

        • allie says:

true..and cynical Republican politicians could not care less about abortion but they use it to mislead poorly educated and easily duped evangelicals. It is so sad.

        • Boots says:

Remember life begins at conception and ends at birth.

        • Boots says:

No Ron, democrats do not say it is ok to slaughter unborn humans but it was republicans who chose not to change the law when they had a chance from 2001 to 2007. At least democrats tend to be consistent while republicans only pay lip service to this issue. And yes Ron, it should not be the business of government to execute its own citizens.

You mean about as silly as yours? LOL

I don’t think Donald is going to pick General Flynn for the VP position. Here’s why. With the division of congress ,on the left and on the right. The Donald has very few friends and support, even with his own party. All he has is? “We The People”. Which counts a great deal! The country is so sick and tired of the same ole politics as usual. The “D’s and The “R’s are more concerned with their own political parties than actually representing the people.
The Donald needs a VP who knows the mechanics(lol) of Congress and how to reach across to both sides. And this is not a or any generals element….Congress.
Maybe his “views” on Abortion, well qualifies him to be a VP for the Hillary camp? Not Donald Trump?
    My “view”.
Abortion should only be considered as a Last Resort. And extreme circumstances. If they decide to do this on their own, & with their own resources ? Then so be it! let it be on their own conscience. However, i believe the government should not be in the business of exterminating Babies. This is called Infanticide! There is no difference between infanticide and murder! It’s still murder!
    Why not adoption?
There are many couples, who can’t have children, who are looking to raise and give a child a good home!Think about it,you give the adopted parent a gift so great you can’t imagine and the Child, a gift of Life! Wow!
Laws and legislation should be adopted to assure that this baby has a fighting chance. I would be in favor of government sponsored program where the gov & the adopted parents oversees & pays for the single parent, the duration of the pregnancy, When the child is born ,the adopted parent takes control of this child…… Just walk away.
Yeah, maybe the General Flynn might wanna consider sticking to the “life” of the Military. IMUA

Don’t worry he will flip flop 10 times over on every issue.

  5. lespark says:

People who support Clinton, go out and vote for her. You don’t need to browbeat Trump and those who believe he will make America Great. The man has not put you at risk. He had nothing to do with the morass and quandary of our present administration. He was not responsible for ISIS, Syrian refugees, illegal immigrants, black lives matter, unemployment, national debt.
Instead you should speak to the honesty, integrity, accomplishments, good judgement, experience or the lack thereof of Hilliary Clinton.
Please remember, no matter what race you are, your life is what you make it. Don’t waste it or your vote.

    • bsdetection says:

A favorite, recent Trump moment. Trump is in Washington, meeting with Republicans on July 7, and Rep. Tim Walberg (R-Mich) asks Trump for his interpretation of Article 1 of the Constitution, which governs the powers given to Congress. Trump, who has no idea what Walberg is talking about, decides to bluff, and says, “I am a constitutionalist. I am going to abide by the Constitution whether it’s number 1, number 2, number 12, number 9.” One problem for Trump is that the Constitution has only 7 Articles. Trump is the ultimate example of anosognosia or the Dunning Kruger Effect; take your pick.

      • Tita Girl says:

hahaha…I heard a talking head on tv covering that meeting. Then, he compared it to Barry’s 57…58 states moment. No matter which side of the aisle, we can always count on politicians for a good laugh.

        • bsdetection says:

The contexts were very different. Obama stated that of the states he would campaign in (48 because he didn’t campaign in Alaska or Hawaii) there was only one that he had not yet been to. Therefore, 48 – 1 = 47. He meant to say 47, and, in a slip of the tongue, said 57. That sort of mistake is one we all make. In Trump’s case, it wasn’t a slip of the tongue; it was a display of ignorance.

        • Tita Girl says:

bs,How do you know what he meant to say? Have you made the “mistake” saying there are 57 states? I never have. I don’t know anyone that has, othar than Obama. If it was a ‘slip’ he would have corrected himself. No, he said 57 states believing it. Only the ignorant or the apologist will believe that Obama made a ‘slip of the tongue.’

        • Tita Girl says:

          *other….hahaha…fatfinger.

        • lespark says:

What’s the difference. The Country is screwed up and people want to show how smart they are. They call that being a smart a$$.

      • lespark says:

I am sure Trump will brush up on the Constitution if he’s elected POTUS. He himself said he needs help in this area. At least he was honest about it. Prior to running for POTUS it probably never crossed his mind how many Articles there were. He probably was thinking Amendments. Nobody got killed, he didn’t lie to Congress, he wasn’t careless with emails, his aide doesn’t have relatives in the Muslim Brotherhood, he didn’t take money from Wall Street. He loves Latinos, blacks, Jews, all races. What’s not to like. What’s in your wallet?

        • choyd says:

Trump has spent decades openly hating the various civil liberties within the Constitution and Bill of Rights.

If you vote for Trump, you vote to burn the Constitution. It is just that simple.

      • Boots says:

Yes but how many amendments does the constitution have? You really don’t expect the Donald to know the difference between an Article of the Constitution and an Amendment do you?

        • lespark says:

Prove to me that knowing how many articles and amendments is going to fix the mess you got us into. You are a Democrat aren’t you?

    • Boots says:

The problem with the Donald is that he has no experience to be president. In my lifetime we never had a president with no political experience. The closest was Eisenhower but he was the leader of the military which would have given him some exposure to the workings of government. The Donald has none of this. The presidency, is not where one gets on the job training. That is the scary part about the Donald. It is like hiring the town’s butcher to perform brain surgery. Makes absolutely no sense.

    • Boots says:

Why not? Perhaps if people had listened more G W Bush never would have been selected as president. GW ended up putting all of us at risk. If the Donald becomes president, we would again be at risk and probably bankrupt.

      • lespark says:

How do you know this? You put a scatterbrained, dishonest, pandering, money grabbing dumb blond in the WH is the answer? Nonsense.
How can you align yourself with someone so corrupt?

        • Tita Girl says:

les, she’s not scatterbrained or dumb. Don’t believe the ‘she’s not technical’ pass Comey gave her. Dishonest, pandering, money grabbing…yes…but that’s all politicians. and, she probably hasn’t been a blond in years. That color is out of a box….probably Shade: 9. It does look good on her, though.

        • choyd says:

How can you advocate putting a candidate who has openly hated the Constitution and Bill of Rights for decades into the White House?

I get that you loathe Hillary. Most of us do. But that is not a reason to vote for a dictator loving, freedom hating authoritarian.

Vote Johnson if you don’t think we should elect Her High Corruptness or Mr. Burn The Constitution.

  6. copperwire9 says:

That’s possibly Sunday’s position. Monday’s is likely to be entirely different, and Tuesday’s too…

  7. lespark says:

The General is entitled to his opinion. The BLM are entitled to their right to protest.
Let’s not browbeat the guy for being honest. Not like some lady I know.

    • lespark says:

      Here’s one:

“The Clintons have simultaneously depended on black voters and thrown black voters under the bus for years now. Bill Clinton’s comments on Thursday were not the result of someone tired of being protested; his comments were the result of someone who has no shame in using black voters to get what they want.”

      • Boots says:

I think saying the clintons threw black voters under the bus is a bit harsh. Yes Bill Clinton was not perfect and he gave into the far right hysteria regarding crime. Yes Clinton needs to be constantly reminded about this but more important, one should never give in to far right hysteria. Bill Clinton would never have approved those laws if there was no support for them. Republicans only push fear and this needs to be resisted.

        • lespark says:

Clinton regrets using term ‘superpredator’ in 1996 crime speech … when discussing young people during a speech two decades ago in support of the 1994 Violent Crime Control Act.
This is what started the racial divide.

        • klastri says:

lespark – This is ridiculous of course. But no more ridiculous than other things you write.

You are apparently not a student of history, if you think the racial divide started in 1994.

Can’t you just once write something truthful?

Also, you comment on every single article – all day and night. Do you have anything else to do?
