Hawaii’s Coco Ho lost to Courtney Conlogue of the United States 17.66 to 10.17 in the semifinals of the Cascais Women’s Pro on Thursday in Guincho, Portugal.
Three Hawaii surfers were eliminated in the quarterfinals. Carissa Moore was ousted by Ho 11.07 to 10.50, Conlogue eliminated Malia Manuel 15.97 to 8.33 and Tatiana Weston-Webb was edged by France’s Johanne Defay 10.57 to 10.37.
In the final, Conlogue defeated Australia’s Tyler Wright 13.00 to 12.26.
In the men’s Billabong Pro Cascais, also held in Guincho, Portugal, Hawaii’s Keanu Asing, Torrey Meister and Sebastian Zietz were eliminated in the third round.
Tonga leads Seasiders to 4-set victory
Sinamoni Tonga had a career-high 26 kills as the Brigham Young-Hawaii women’s volleyball team snapped an eight-match losing streak with a 21-25, 25-17, 25-21, 25-20 victory over Notre Dame de Namur on Thursday in Belmont, Calif.
Tonga, a junior, also had 16 digs and Leilani Adolpho added 16 kills and 13 digs for the Seasiders (3-11, 1-4 PacWest).
The Argonauts fell to 3-10, 1-4.
