A 24-year-old Ewa Beach man indicted for stabbing his ex-girlfriend and her mother pleaded not guilty Thursday.
Jahsiah Price-Brown was arraigned Thursday at Circuit Court via closed-circuit video link from the Oahu Community Correctional Center on charges of attempted murder. Deputy public defender
Edward Aquino entered a plea of not guilty on Price-Brown’s behalf.
A grand jury indicted Price-Brown last week for attempted first-degree murder, two counts of attempted second-degree murder and abuse of family or household members. He remains at OCCC on $2 million bail.
Price-Brown on Dec. 23 allegedly choked and punched his ex-girlfriend at his Laulaunui Street home before stabbing her in the chest, according to a deputy prosecutor and a court document.
Her mother, who was waiting outside after driving her daughter and grandson to Price-Brown’s home, entered the residence after she heard her daughter call for help. A struggle allegedly ensued between Price-Brown and the mother. The deputy prosecutor said the ex-girlfriend jumped on Price-Brown and choked him in an attempt to pull him off her mother. The mother was stabbed as she tried to leave.
A court document said a neighbor broke the window to the front door to unlock it and pulled the mother out of the house. He allegedly saw Price-Brown stabbing his ex-girlfriend on the sofa. At some point Price-Brown’s ex-girlfriend was able to calm him down and took the knife from him before she staggered out of the home.
Police recovered an 8-inch knife covered with blood just outside the front door.
The two women, who are expected to survive, were taken to the Queen’s Medical Center.
