Rep. John Lewis says he’s doesn’t consider Donald Trump a “legitimate president,” blaming the Russians for helping the Republican win the White House.

WASHINGTON >> Democratic Rep. John Lewis says he’s doesn’t consider Donald Trump a “legitimate president,” blaming the Russians for helping the Republican win the White House.

The Georgia congressman and leader in the civil rights movement of the 1960s said he will skip next week’s inauguration of Trump at the Capitol, joining several other Democrats who have decided to boycott the historic event.

“You know, I believe in forgiveness. I believe in trying to work with people. It will be hard. It’s going to be very difficult. I don’t see this president-elect as a legitimate president,” Lewis said in an interview with NBC’s “Meet the Press” that will air on Sunday.

“I think the Russians participated in helping this man get elected. And they helped destroy the candidacy of Hillary Clinton,” Lewis said.

U.S. Intelligence agencies have said Russia meddled in the election to help Trump win. After spending weeks challenging that assessment, Trump finally accepted that the Russians were behind the election-year hacking of Democrats that roiled the White House race. However, he also emphasized that “there was absolutely no effect on the outcome of the election including the fact that there was no tampering whatsoever with voting machines.”

Lewis explained his decision to stay away from the inauguration as “you cannot be at home with something that you feel that is wrong, is not right.”

He said it will be the first inauguration he has missed in three decades, a time that includes Democrats and Republicans taking the oath of office.

The 16-term congressman testified earlier this week against Trump’s choice of Sen. Jeff Sessions to be attorney general, citing the Alabama Republican’s record on ensuring minorities have the right to vote. Lewis was beaten and bloodied during the fight for civil and voting rights.

Republican Sen. Roy Blunt of Missouri, who met with Trump Friday, said he considered Lewis a friend and great man, but “the idea of constantly looking for ways to delegitimize the results of an election, no matter how unhappy you are about it, isn’t the best example we set.”

Democratic Rep. Raul Grijalva of Arizona said Friday on the House floor that he, too, would be staying home. He said the move is not motivated by disrespect for the office. He said he is staying home to protest what he called “disrespect” shown to Americans by the incoming administration and by the actions being taken in Congress. He said the majority of voters did not vote for Trump.

Clinton received 2.9 million more votes than Trump but lost the Electoral College vote.

“I will be at home in Arizona, meeting with seniors, the immigrant community, folks that care about the environment and climate change, health care providers,” Grijalva said.

Other Democratic lawmakers who have announced plans to skip the inauguration include Reps. Barbara Lee of California, Earl Blumenauer of Oregon, Katherine Clark of Massachusetts and Luis Gutierrez of Illinois. They cite an array of reasons, but have one at least one thing in common. All represent heavily Democratic districts.

Only 8,400 minutes left to go and then we get a REAL President, one who does NOT hate America.

The Obama years showed liberalism to be exhausted, its ideas out of date and its advocates living in an imagined past. The Democratic Party has never been so weak, or so old. The top three Democrats in the House are all at least 76. The average age of their GOP counterparts is 49. The Republicans’ Senate majority allowed them to delay the appointment of a successor to the late Justice Antonin Scalia, ensuring that the Supreme Court will not tip to a liberal majority. There are more than 100 vacancies on lower federal courts waiting to be filled.

Trump Lashes Out at Hillary Clinton, Intelligence Officials in Tweets
President-elect calls former Democratic rival ‘guilty as hell’ on Twitter

WASHINGTON—President-elect Donald Trump fired off a wide-ranging series of Twitter posts Friday, attacking Hillary Clinton, the intelligence community and Republican campaign rivals.

He also praised the performance of his cabinet nominees during their confirmation hearings and wrote that the “The ‘Unaffordable’ Care Act will soon be history!”

Perhaps reflecting the gusto with which he was trying to drive home his messages Friday morning, he ended four of his seven Twitter posts with an exclamation mark.

Mr. Trump often starts the morning using Twitter to target a specific issue, but Friday, he weighed in on multiple topics.

His sharpest barbs appeared to focus on a recent announcement that the Justice Department’s Inspector General would open a review of the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s handling of numerous matters during the election. It will look at, among other things, the decision by FBI Director James Comey to announce days before the November election that agents were reviewing new emails that could be connected to Mrs. Clinton.

          ‪@realDonaldTrump
What are Hillary Clinton’s people complaining about with respect to the F.B.I. Based on the information they had she should never…..

          ‪@realDonaldTrump
have been allowed to run – guilty as hell. They were VERY nice to her. She lost because she campaigned in the wrong states – no enthusiasm!

“What are Hillary Clinton’s people complaining about with respect to the F.B.I.” Mr. Trump wrote. In another post, he described Mrs. Clinton as “guilty as hell,” using language he employed often during the campaign but has backed away from since then. Mr. Trump wrote that the FBI was “VERY nice to” Mrs. Clinton and that “She lost because she campaigned in the wrong states—no enthusiasm!”
Mr. Trump used similar attacks to lash out at what he said were attempts by Democrats and Republicans to smear him with false information during the campaign. He was referring to a dossier compiled by a former British intelligence officer that was publicized this week. A summary of the dossier was included last week in an intelligence report given to him as part of the review into the alleged Russian hacking operation that targeted the 2016 election.

“Totally made up facts by sleazebag political operatives, both Democrats and Republicans—FAKE NEWS!” he wrote. “Russia says nothing exists.”

He suggested that U.S. intelligence officials were partly to blame for the leak of the documents, saying it was “released by ‘Intelligence’ even knowing there is no proof, and never will be.”

          ‪@realDonaldTrump
Totally made up facts by sleazebag political operatives, both Democrats and Republicans – FAKE NEWS! Russia says nothing exists. Probably…

In another post, Mr. Trump weighed in on the performance of some of his cabinet nominees at Senate confirmation hearings this week. Several of the nominees have given much different views on domestic and foreign affairs from Mr. Trump, particularly retired Gen. James Mattis, who was very critical of Russia during his hearing before the Senate Armed Services Committee on Thursday. Gen. Mattis is Mr. Trump’s nominee for secretary of defense.

The divergent views have led to questions about whether his cabinet could have conflicting agendas once they take office, but Mr. Trump expressed that this isn’t a concern.

“All of my Cabinet nominee [sic] are looking good and doing a great job,” Mr. Trump wrote. “I want them to be themselves and express their own thoughts, not mine!”

        • South76 says:

There is a difference between the word “than” and “then.” Oops never mind, your name says it all.

      • klastri says:

Your comments are always such a challenge. It’s like you write English that was translated into Vietnamese, and then back into English. So it takes … oh, I don’t know …. maybe five or six readings using different words plugged into the gaps that make no sense to figure out what you mean.

Kind of like Sarah Palin! Are you really her?

I thought it was interesting and well-written.

Certainly better than comments that seem to rest almost entirely on the use of invectives like “bigot” “racist” and “psychotic”.

    • allie says:

Trump knows about delegitimization having done everything he could to dishonestly delegitimize Obama with the absurd birther fable.

Congressman lewis is a hero of mine and all of us for his brave stances on racial equality. I agree with him that trump is by no means a legitimate president. He lost the popular vote, is coming in with record low approval ratings, is not a conservative, not even a Republican. He ran as a de facto independent and misled his voters. I fear for America the next 4 years.

      • lespark says:

allie, Mr. Lewis has misled his flock of sheep. It would not surprise me if half of his supporters are dead. Hillary’s backer was the one who started the birther issue. In any event 6 more days and Obama is a figment of his imagination.

        • thos says:

What allie so casually dismisses as the absurd birther fable has little to do with where the current occupant of the White House was actually born and is a diversion from the REAL question, to wit: is said occupant now or has he ever been a REAL American?

The answer to that question is a resounding NO!

A rebellious teen, Stanley Ann Dunham living on very liberal Mercer Island with her affluent parents, got herself impregnated by a man of African ancestry (some think it might have been Jimi Hendrix). Her parents made a hasty move out of their wealthy mostly white community to racially tolerant Hawaii. There they located a UH exchange student from Kenya who, for cash on the barrel head, would agree to “marry” the girl so she would not give birth to a mixed race b a s t a r d out of wedlock. Not long after the baby made his appearance, his “daddy” skedaddled off to a school in New England where – – despite being married to the white girl in Hawaii and a Kenyan woman in Africa – – he took up with yet another woman. Thereafter upon his return to his home he made a career out of shameless self promotion (sound familiar?) that netted him, initially, an impressive government job. He then went backwards down the government career ladder as his fictitious braggadocio – – coupled with his gorgeous thirst for the high octane distillate from Scotland – – became more widely known. It was the combo of booze and high speed driving that finally did him in.

Meanwhile his “son” was taken by his mother halfway round the world where he spent his young, most formative years in Muslim saturated Indonesia where he learned to appreciate, inter alia, the beauty of the daily calls to prayer by the local muezzin.

The mother of this TRUE African American dragged her young son around like a tumbleweed in pursuit of her ‘career’ as an academic, finally returned to Hawaii and dumped him on her mother to raise. It was during this period that he fell under the spell of an enchanting mentor, Frank Marshall Davis, a committed Communist who despise American capitalism and taught the young boy to hate America.

Having marinated in this toxic stew, he never even set foot on the American mainland for his first 18 years. His claim to be a real American is a false as the promises he made to sell the Obamacare swindle to the gullible

      • sarge22 says:

You stepped right into that one allie cat. Need I remind you that Donald Trump will soon be President. Hope you enjoy the next eight years.

        • klastri says:

It’s not possible that you don’t know about Mr. Lewis and his life. You cannot have an ignorance list that long.

        • scuddrunner says:

klastri and allie, I love the screaming and kicking, I love it, nothing you do or say will change anything. Sit back and enjoy the ride.
And you wonder why Mr. Trump won.

        • klastri says:

scuddrunner – Actually, I don’t wonder. I wildly underestimated the number of people who in their lifetimes had failed to read about folks like Mr. Lewis. That leads to folks with the pathetic level of ignorance, racism and bigotry that Mr. Trump was able to speak to. Folks like you, for instance.

Sitting back and enjoying the ride is not on the agenda. Fighting with my good friends at the ACLU (I used to be a volunteer attorney for them and I’m back in first chair!) and the Southern Poverty Law Center is more my style. And my wife is really fired up! She thinks it is not good for a person who admits he’s guilty of serial sexual assault (even the hapless Mr. Sessions agrees finally with that) to be President. And that’s who folks elected.

        • sarge22 says:

klastri are you the one or was it Ike???…”1. Aren’t you the one that was for granting amnesty to 40+ million illegals?
          2. Aren’t you the one that wants all illegals to have full access to the HI ERS pension because it’s their right to join the system?
          3. Aren’t you the one that told everyone that you provide legal assistance to illegals facing deportation and how to game the system so illegals qualify for benefits that were reserved for legal residents and legitimate US Citizens?”

        • klastri says:

sarge22 – No, it wasn’t me. More of your lies.

However, on #3, the fact is that everyone who is in the United States deserves a defense. Everyone. And they are going to get one whether you like it or not. Nothing can stop that from happening. With regard to your fantasy about benefits, you just made that up out of thin air like most of the drivel you write.

        • DPK says:

Klastri: curious about your wife’s position on Bubba Clinton’s escapades and his wife’s denunciation of his accusers.

lol, the Donald will be lucky if he lasts 2 years. Remember sweet Sara who quit her job as governor? Sadly the Donald may end up dead or disabled. Not smart to poke the intelligence community like he has. Not saying he is wrong, but he is playing with fire. But he also doesn’t seem to be in the best of health.

        • meat says:

          “End up dead”? Really earhole.

Don’t give Nanakuli a bad name.

        • Ken_Conklin says:

Here’s the key: “The Georgia congressman and leader in the civil rights movement of the 1960s”

Sometimes when people get very elderly they might occasionally say things that are crazy. That applies even to someone as venerable as Mr. Lewis, whose civil rights activism and bravery way back in the 1960s deserve respect even if his current comments do not.

      • DPK says:

So allie: if you believe that Mr, Trump is not the legitimate president, then you do not believe in the Constitution and the rule of law. These procedures are outlined in the Constitution. If you do not agree with the Constitution, then you should develop a movement to change it that falls within legal guidelines. Changing governmental structure for political expediency seems to be your ridiculous position.

      • d_bullfighter says:

allie, if you are capable of doing so, why do you suppose that Obama would claim that a computer generated birth certificate was legitimately his? Why not just simply produce a hard copy which he has not done. After all, does the State Dept. accept a computer generated copy of a birth certificate when you or I apply for a passport? NO they want the hard copy as genuine proof. Obama could have avoided all the controversy by providing such evidence but he didn’t.

    • kuroiwaj says:

IRT KukuiNuNu, Rep. John Lewis has destroyed his wonderful life of accomplishments with this one stupid words and action. How sad. I respected him, not any more. John is just a common politician.

      • butinski says:

Agree. Lewis should just analyze why Trump won the electoral votes to become our next POTUS. It wasn’t because of the Russians, nor Comey, nor all the other excuses that he wants to justify the upset. No. One big reason was because his own folks, the African Americans, didn’t come out to vote enmass for Hillary. If they had responded with the same enthusiasm they had when Barry ran, she would have won. So it’s time for Lewis to swallow defeat. Trump will be around for at least 4 years.

        • Keonigohan says:

          Libs are losers….period!

        • klastri says:

Keonigohan – Sure. Why should black people be allowed to vote?

          That meddling “lib” John Lewis!

        • Keonigohan says:

          @ KKKlastri
You are a RACIST. You spew smells like left over garbage that missed it’s pick up day. You are so full of it even the sewer pipes are too small.

        • Keonigohan says:

          @ KKKlastri
          You’re still a RACIST.

      • cajaybird says:

I believe he was one of those who stood on the steps of the Capital and chanted “hands up-don’t shoot”, which was based on a total lie. Mr. Lewis should resign.

        • Keonigohan says:

          @ cajaybird
Yup that was him. Didn’t one them accuse the protestors of yelling racial slurs and spitting at them which turned out to be a total lie?

        • klastri says:

cajaybird – You can believe any fantasy you want. Mr. Lewis, of course, is not going to resign. He was elected again by a large margin, and (here’s an education for you) if you aren’t a voter in his district, you have no say on who serves there.

You learn something new from me every day! You’re welcome!

        • kuroiwaj says:

IRT Klastri, when Rep. Lewis is on video, kinda hard to deny or provide an excuse, don’t you believe.

        • klastri says:

kuroiwaj – I was responding to his suggestion that Mr. Lewis should resign. Which won’t happen, of course.

        • meat says:

“cayjaybird – you can believe any fantasy you want”, that statement clearly shows that you are denying the FACT that it was this lying loser on the steps astri. And this act by Lewis is FACT. It’s clear that this statement does not refer to Lewis’ resignation. A volunteer attorney at the ACLU? Really now.

      • klastri says:

kurowaj – Why would you make up something so ridiculous? “Destroyed his wonderful life of accomplishments?” Because he criticized Donald Trump? Please. I’m sure all the folks who can vote now because of what Mr. Lewis did are very upset with him because he dissed Donald Trump. That makes a lot of sense. Exactly.

And I’m sure that Mr. Lewis would be very upset – VERY! – if he knew that you didn’t respect him anymore. So let’s keep that from him, shall we?

        • Hitaxpayer says:

Love to see you tolerant progressive liberals totally melting down. Brings a big smile to my face.

        • kuroiwaj says:

IRT Klastri, HiTaxPayer agree. When the Feds begin assisting the major cities and Rep. Lewis has difficulty obtaining major funding, people change rapidly, as in New Orleans and other major cities. Rep. Lewis may have ended his career.

        • klastri says:

Hitaxpayer – Trial litigators never melt down. Never. We’re trained not to.

You’re never right about anything, so it’s no surprise that you got this wrong too!

        • klastri says:

kuroiwaj – It’s encouraging to see that you agree that Mr. Trump is a think-skinned, immature buffoon, who would fail to provide aid to United States citizens in Atlanta because of a slight by their Congressman.

That is exactly Mr. Trump’s personality. Congratulations!

        • Hitaxpayer says:

Klastri, you are a hater and a waste of flesh. How does it feel to have no one like you?

    • Ronin006 says:

Well said, my butt. Rep Lewis needs to educate himself about the US Constitution, especially what it says about how Presidents are elected. This guy is an ignoramus.

  2. sarge22 says:

  3. fairgame947 says:

He is thinking of the candidate/POTUS soon, rather than the process. The inauguration is a wonderful process regardless of the person who will assume the office of the most powerful person on earth. The election is over, his candidate was not successful and we all have to move on. There is no excuse as a Congressman for missing the inauguration.

  4. Maipono says:

We are really going to miss those snowflakes. So sad, when the law of the land is followed, they want to change it. Good for you Representative Lewis, you have exposed yourself for what you are, a charlatan.

What have you done with your worthless life?

        • sarge22 says:

What’s that got to do with the fact that he backed a loser and lost. Now he is still in shock and is making excuses for being beaten. Has nothing to do whatsoever with our personal lives. Obviously you still don’t get it.

        • allie says:

agree with Klastri. Congressman Lewis is a heroic figure. One of the giants of the civil rights movement. There are far too few men of his stature and dignity in Congress

        • lespark says:

Fake news. What does it mean to be nearly beaten to death? You either are or you aren’t. I’m tired of listening to the same pointless nothing.

        • klastri says:

  5. bsdetection says:

Until Trump does everything in his power, including releasing his tax returns, to disprove these allegations, he will not be a legitimate President. These charges are very serious and must be fully investigated. Trump’s defense is an insult to the intelligence of every American, even those who voted for Trump. Trump actually tweeted ““Russia just said the unverified report paid for by political opponents is ‘A COMPLETE AND TOTAL FABRICATION, UTTER NONSENSE.’ Very unfair!””

Really? Trump’s first line of defense is to quote Russian denials! In one week, someone this stupid is going to be the most powerful man in the world! Terrifying.

  6. klastri says:

Folks who know nothing about Congressman Lewis (most Trump supporters are in that sad group) will criticize him. But for those who do five minutes of research on his life will know that Mr. Lewis was beaten nearly to death in his long effort to secure the right to vote for black people. It’s difficult for him to accept a racist and a bigot as President of the United States. And that is exactly what Mr. Trump is – a loathsome bigot and racist.

Not that Mr. Lewis would care in the slightest what any Trump supporters think about him. He has paid his dues in the service of the United States.

    • Keolu says:

Nobody is taking anything away from what congressman Lewis did earlier in his life and career.

But being sour grapes because Hillary lost the election is just being sour grapes. Time to get over it.

I was unhappy when O’bama won re-election but I don’t remember all this whining about it 2 months after the election. At least most people waited for O’bama to mess up more things before criticizing him.

      • klastri says:

Maybe you didn’t whine about it, but Mr. Trump whined about, and continuously lied about, Mr. Obama for five years.

Are you an adult? The name is Obama. Not O’bama. Good grief.

        • sarge22 says:

You are just so childish klassless. Grow up and accept a sound defeat. Office closed today or out of business?

      • skinut says:

Keolu, it is not sour grapes that is causing such an extreme reaction against trump’s impending presidency. I was not happy when george w. bush won, especially with the way the election was concluded, but I accepted him as my president because he seemed like a decent man. I was willing to give him a chance to show his mettle because of that. But trump is not a decent man. He is a misogynist and most likely a racist. Even if that were not true, he has proven himself to be a boorish, thin-skinned, petulant, childish, vindictive, classless bully. Such an individual is wholly unsuited to be the president of the united states.

        • sarge22 says:

Is that all you don’t like about Mr Trump? More like sour grapes.

        • GONEGOLFIN says:

Any more labels you can place on that list?
I agree he may not be from the same mold as the rest of the politicians we are used to, but, he may be just the type of person we need to get this country back into shape. I for one am to the point of not trusting ANY politician (can you say: Kaneshiro, Kealoha, and of course Hillary?)
Yes, he can be thin-skinned, childish and seem at times a bully, but, he is also determined, persuasive, and can get things done.
Let’s see what happens, then you can empty your foul mouth of those characteristics.

Thank you for asking sarge22. No, there is another very important thing I don’t like about trump. He does it so often, I think everyone becomes numb to it. Or, it may be that he is such a foul person with so many character flaws, it’s easy to forget some of them. What I’m talking about is his constant, unending lying. It’s surprising his tongue hasn’t fallen out of his mouth in shame. His advisors (and lawyers) will be kept very busy during his term.

Spot on. I don’t recall any stooped rioters either…libs are total lunatics.

    • calentura says:

Klastri, do you, like John Lewis, approve of partial birth abortions..?

  7. KonaGolden says:

DNC lost the presidency for the Democrats, they picked someone who was unlikable and came across as dishonest. I don’t like that Trump is the next POTUS, but put the blame where it freaking lies, not with the Russians, not with Trump, but within their own stupid party.

    • allie says:

Hillary had her flaws but you thought Trump was honest? Really? Hillary may have been unforthcoming on relatively trivial things but Trump was dishonest about major and important things. America is really in a fix with him. Funny guy until we all stop laughing at his jokes.

      • nalogirl says:

Unforthcoming, I guess thats PC for lying. Trivial things like Bengahzi, the supposed video that caused Bengahzi, getting debate questions beforehand, DNC. screws over Bernie, media runs artckes by Clinton staff before being written, becoming a multimillionaire after she said they were leaving the WH broke, Whitewater, destroying women who were assaulted by her husband. Yea, allies, I guess that’s all trivial in your mind but it wasn’t for half of the American population.

        • Ronin006 says:

Right on, nologirl. And don’t forget Hillary using a secret unsecured server to conduct sensitive and classified US government business for four years. Hillary lost because of Hillary and no one else.

        • NanakuliBoss says:

Trumpf only pumped east European girls.

          You running out of gas…substance.

      • cajaybird says:

allie, do you realize what you’re saying? Trivial things? Accepting questions before a national Presidential debate? People dying (Benghazi), failed foreign policy? the birth and expansion of ISIS? Accepting donations from countries that treat women like dirt? I could go on and on. And what are the major and important things Trump was dishonest about? The list should be interesting.

      • GONEGOLFIN says:

Trivial things? Like the countries security vs. major things, like an attitude towards making America Great AGAIN!?

  8. Marauders_1959 says:

I wondered about this Lewis character… then I saw his photograph.

    Regarding:
“….. blaming the Russians for helping the Republican win the White House.”

Wikileaks may have influenced the voting by exposing the facts that the democrats wanted to keep hidden.
    Truth prevails.

    • klastri says:

You “wondered” about Representative Lewis? He’s one of the most prominent and successful surviving people from the Civil Rights era.

How could you possibly be ignorant of John Lewis?

      • dragoninwater says:

Ask any random black guy in the streets of Chicago who John Lewis is. LOL

      • sarge22 says:

Looks like the guy from the Benghazi hearings

        • Cricket_Amos says:

I understand that Mr. Lewis has a noble past.

But I listened to him during recent hearings, and he seemed to me to be living in an alternative reality, and not in the good sense.

      • CEI says:

John Lewis? I think I’ve heard of him. Didn’t he play for the Rams back in the 70’s.

        • cajaybird says:

IRT CEI: Nope! He was a light heavyweight boxer with 103 wins, 9 losses, and 6 draws. 60 of his wins were by way of knockout.

      • South76 says:

MLK Day is this Monday, he wanted colored people to be judged based NOT on the color of their skin but of their character. Lewis and the Demoncrats wave the race card every time when they don’t get their way. Pathetic use of skin color……

        • cajaybird says:

IRT South76: Unfortunately Mr. Lewis of recent has made a career out of using the “race card”. He’s never apologized for his “hands up, don’t shoot” rant on the steps of the Capital. Also, his form of rabble rousing (along with the WH and his caucus members)has resulted in the deaths of Blacks and Police officers. Also, the WH has been silent on race issues, especially by not demanding that Blacks stop rioting. In fact, we later learned that the Democratic party paid demonstrators in Chicago to incite violence at the Republican Trump rally in Chicago. The silent majority is tired of such antics and that’s why Trump was elected. He was the only one who would speak up! Other Republicans as usual, were afraid to speak up.

  11. rayhawaii says:

Blame it on the fake news about Clinton on Facebook. Just blame Facebook and all the Facebookies who believe everything they read and spread it to other Facebookies.

  12. nalogirl says:

Lewis is going against the will of the people of Georgia who elected Trump. His state must be pretty upset with his I am king attitude.

    • klastri says:

His constituents are not upset with him. If you knew anything at all – anything – about Mr. Lewis or his district, you would not have written something so ridiculous.

  13. MoiLee says:

So what Mr. Lewis was Barrack Hussien Obama a “legitimate President”? Better Look at the State of our country is in today Brah. It’s in a Big Mess because of Democrat rule for past 8 years.Hence why we have PE. Trump.

Man! The Democrats are such “Sore Loser it’s Shameful! Blaming everyone for their failure. Hillary Clinton ran a Terrible campaign, sleeping-in,taking for granted by Not campaigning in Swing states. Does anyone remember how aggressive ran his campaign? He was having his Rallys in 4-5 states in a single day!

It’s so Shameful it’s become embarrassing.I’m actually embarrassed for them. Did you get this?
“You know I believe in Forgiveness”,but I will Not be Attending the Inauguration . Talk about “Forgiveness”.Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa ” Lastly what is even more embarrassing about Mr. Lewis ,he’s not even sure the Russians did it. “He Thinks The Russians Participated”. He THINKS? Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa! IMUA

  14. roadsterred says:

    16-term congressman says it all.

  15. Ronin006 says:

Democrats need to get over it. Trump won the Electoral College votes which makes him as legitimate a President as the Constitution can make him. It does not matter that Hillary won the popular vote. Democrats invented “participation trophies,” so give Hillary her participation trophy and send her home.

  16. wn says:

    Call the “Waaa…bulance!”

  17. latenightroach says:

Rep. John Lewis just kissed his career goodbye.
Keep up the great work, Dems! Soon you’ll lose every single seat in Washington.
I have never seen a party of such sore losers in my entire life. Never. These losers are making fools of themselves, it’s such a disgrace. Their behavior won’t be forgotten.

    • klastri says:

Yes, of course. This makes sense. His district elects him by large margins and overwhelmingly voted for Mrs. Clinton. Like 80%

His career is over? Great analysis!

      • CEI says:

Here’s the real impetus behind Rep. Lewis’s immature reaction to Trump: Minorities are beginning to finally wise up to the decades of broken promises from pandering democrats. Under Barry Obama black unemployment skyrocketed and law abiding residents of the inner cities are afraid to leave their homes for fear of out of control gang violence. Trump stands a good chance of improving the lives of these people and that scares the race hustlers to death. They just can’t permit their victim class to leave the plantation so they’ll go to almost any length spreading fear and fake news. That’s what this is about, plain and simple.

  18. 78R8R says:

We need term limits in Congress

  19. jussayin says:

A bit late to the game J Lewis. Geez. In fact, the game is over. As one of our elected officials you should work with the new president. Oops, sorry. I forgot about the aisle and how it divides Congress and as a result our nation. A little frustrating that our elected officials can’t work together for a while now.

  20. jussayin says:

BTW, this is a Top News story?! Come on SA!

  21. blackmurano says:

This liberal sickee Congressman need to be given a free ticket to Canada where other liberals have ran to since the election of President-elect Donald Trump. Lewis is not only a racist, a sour grape Democrat, but his an embarassment to all Americans.

  22. yogaman says:

Mr. Lewis fails to realize that what lost the election was his party backing a severely flawed candidate in Hillary Clinton and the weariness of a huge population of Americans with Obama’s policies. the hacking did not change the vote of anyone who was not voting for Trump. Shame on him for trying to delegitimize the President Ekect not honoring our constitutional right.

  23. lespark says:

If this guy thinks he’s going to stand in the way of MAGA he’d better think more about his constituents. He is the problem. Not Trump.

  24. Boots says:

I agree with Lewis that the Donald is not a legitimate president. The Donald lost the popular vote by close to 2million votes and voter suppression played the biggest role in his win. I suggest everyone read http://www.gregpalast.com/election-stolen-heres/ to see the real corruption in this country.

While Russia may have played a role, I doubt it was as great as the voter suppression tactics of republicans. Congratulations republicans. You stole another election but now you have to perform. So far it is meet the new swamp, ten times as big and as deep as the old swamp. It won’t be long before even republicans say they miss Obama. Now they have to defend a president that makes slime a way of life. Oh if only republicans still believed in republican values but they don’t. Now its deficits don’t matter and winning is the only thing.

  25. gmkhawaii says:

and WTF does make LEWIS legitimate ? being part of the PROCESS that teaches new REPRESENTATIVES that you NEED TO play political GAMES with each other. i.e. HE-LIE-A-REE !…..

  26. matthew56 says:

sounds like another crybaby liberal. you are only tolerant when people agree with you.

can’t handle the truth that the democrat candidate was a crooked politician who got exposed for what she really was. if she was honest and upright she would have withstood those attacks, but they just exposed what people suspected all along. trump is far from perfect but he ran a smart race and won. now we all need to get on with fixing all the damage obama has done to our country before its too late.

  27. Marauders_1959 says:

Rep. John Lewis in not a REAL member of Congress.
    At best a token.
