Emi Higgins scored two goals, including a tie-breaking effort, to lead Hawaii Prep to 2-1 victory over Seabury Hall on Friday at Waipio Peninsula Soccer Stadium for a spot in tonight’s Division II final of The Queen’s Medical Center/Hawaii High School Athletic Association Girls Soccer State Championships.
Higgins’ game-winner broke a 1-1 tie in the 44th minute. Earlier, she scored for a 1-0 lead in the first minute.
Makena Dougherty tied it at 1 for the Spartans (5-7-1), the Maui Interscholastic League D-II champions, with a goal in the 33rd minute.
Big Island Interscholastic Federation champion and top-seeded Ka Makani (10-2-2) advances to play against Kapaa in the final tonight. It’s Hawaii Prep’s sixth straight appearance in the D-II championship game and the team is going for its fourth straight state crown.
Kapaa 2, Pac-Five 1
The Kauai Interscholastic Federation D-II champion and second-seeded Warriors went ahead 2-0 and held off the Interscholastic League of Honolulu D-II champion Wolfpack to advance to the title game.
Brianna Binder scored in the first half and Kaisha Davis-Caberto made it a two-goal lead for Kapaa (13-1) early in the second half.
Aislynn Crowder scored a late goal to make it close for Pac-Five (7-7).
