The No. 7 Hawaii water polo team lost 8-7 to No. 8 Michigan on the final day of the Barbara Kalbus Invitational in Irvine, Calif., to finish the tournament in eighth place with a 1-3 record.
Chloe Barr and Irene Gonzalez scored two goals each for the Rainbow Wahine, who dropped to 8-7 overall. Kim Johnson led the Wolverines (10-7) with two goals.
Hawaii Pacific sweeps Hawaii Hilo
The Hawaii Pacific baseball team swept Hawaii Hilo in a Sunday afternoon doubleheader at Wong Stadium in Hilo.
HPU (13-3, 3-1) routed the Vulcans (1-5, 1-3) in both games, 21-4 in the opener and 9-2 in the second game. The Sharks were led by Mitchell Bumann’s grand slam in the second game. Blake Flint and Kyle Detwiler were the winning pitchers for HPU, with both tossing five innings in their respective starts.

In the opener, Sienna Santiago went 3-for-4 with two RBIs for the Sharks (6-2, 2-0) and Emillee Leonard tossed a four-hitter. In the two games combined, Rainelle Matsuoka went 4-for-7 to lead the Silverswords (2-8, 0-2), who have lost six straight.
