A 32-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder after he allegedly rammed into a pickup truck with his vehicle in North Kohala.
Dwight A. Rivera of North Kohala was charged Saturday with attempted first-degree murder and is being held in lieu of $100,000 bail.
During the early morning hours Thursday, police said, Rivera repeatedly rammed into a brown Toyota pickup truck occupied by a 31-year-old North Kohala woman and a 36-year-old Waimea man during a domestic dispute.
The woman was transported to the North Hawaii Community Hospital, where she was treated for her injuries and released. Police said the Waimea man was uninjured.
Police said Rivera turned himself in Thursday afternoon at the North Kohala Police Station.
Police looking into Honolulu robbery
Police are investigating a robbery that occurred in Honolulu early Sunday.
At about 4:30 a.m., police said, the suspect approached the victim, a 31-year-old man, and lifted his T-shirt, revealing a dangerous instrument tucked in the suspect’s waistband.
The suspect demanded the victim’s property. Out of fear for his safety, police said, the 31-year-old man gave him his property before the suspect fled.
It’s unclear at this time exactly in what part of Honolulu the attempted robbery occurred. No injuries were reported.
Police need help finding Costco robber
CrimeStoppers and Honolulu police are asking the public’s help in locating a man wanted for attempted second-degree robbery at Costco Iwilei.
At about 9:20 a.m. April 1, a woman was loading her vehicle in the Costco parking lot with items she bought from the store when a man grabbed her purse from the front passenger seat, police said. The victim held onto her purse as he dragged her to the ground. Police said the suspect fled without the bag in a dark Chrysler 300.
He is described to be in his 20s, 5 feet 4 to 5 feet 6 inches tall with a medium build. Police further described him as having short black wavy hair and a goatee.
