The University of Hawaii women’s sailing team qualified for the ICSA Women’s National Championship by placing fourth at the PCCSC Women’s Championship over the weekend in San Diego.
This year’s nationals will be held at the College of Charleston (S.C.) on May 23-26.
The Rainbow Wahine totaled 131 points in the two-day event to earn their ninth nationals berth in the past 10 years. They were propelled by Caitlin Schadt, Gianna Bailey, and Annika Garrett in the A division (73 points, fifth place) and Louise Currie, Danielle Ahir, and Megan Zamzow in the B division (58 points, fourth).
Stanford captured the regatta with 96 points, while UC Santa Barbara was second with 99. USC also qualified for the nationals by finishing third with 120 points. A total of nine teams competed in 30 races — 15 in each division.
