U.S. Rep. Colleen Hanabusa is co-sponsoring a naturalization workshop for those who want to obtain U.S. citizenship.
The workshop will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 3 at the state Capitol.
All participants must be prescreened and must be lawful permanent residents.
To register for the workshop, call the Hawaii Immigrant Justice Center at 536-4302 on or before Friday. Registration is from Monday through Friday from 9 to 11:30 a.m., and from 1 to 3:30 p.m.
Eligible participants will receive free legal help on June 3 to complete the naturalization application; however, participants are responsible for paying all fees and postage associated with the application to the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). Space is limited to the first 40 qualified applicants.
The workshop is being held in partnership with Hanabusa, the Hawaii Chapter of the American Immigration Lawyers Association, Hawaii Immigrant Justice Center, state Rep. Scott Saiki, and Volunteer Legal Services of Hawaii, a news release said.
Applicants on the neighbor islands will be responsible for flying to Honolulu at their own expense.
