The University of Hawaii women’s basketball team is advertising to fill an assistant coach position.
The new hire will fill a vacancy left by Brad Langston, who spent one season with the Rainbow Wahine coaching staff. Langston could not be reached for comment. UH head coach Laura Beeman is withholding comment until a replacement has been selected, according to a UH spokesman.
According to the job listing on the UH website, review of applications will begin on Monday.
Langston joined the staff last September in his first Division I coaching job and was hired to focus on player development. Alex Delanian served as associate head coach and Calamity McEntire as assistant to the head coach last season.
OIA playing football on school nights
The Oahu Interscholastic Association Division I and Division II regular-season football schedule is out.
As expected, there are some games on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Due to a referee shortage, the league wanted to spread out games through the week.
There are a total of six Wednesday games — two in D-I and four in D-II. In addition, there are 16 Thursday games. The OIA has had some seasons in which there were a few Thursday games, but this will be the first time there are Wednesday games.
The OIA D-I playoffs will start the weekend of Oct. 5-6 and finish up the weekend of Oct. 26-27.
