Manu O Ke Kai won the AAA division of the Manu O Ke Kai Regatta — the season-opening event of the Na ‘Ohana O Na Hui Wa‘a canoe paddling season — on Saturday at Hale‘iwa Beach Park.
Manu O Ke Kai scored 114 points, Na Keiki O Ka Mo‘i had 80 and Kaneohe recorded 19.
In the AA division, Ka Mamalahoe Canoe Club won with 40 points, I Mua was second with 32 and Lokahi placed third with 26.
In the AAA division, Hale‘iwa Outrigger won with 17 points, Kamaha‘o Canoe Club placed second with 12 and Olelo O Keola and Kamehameha tied for third with 11.
Moniz-Kaho‘ohanohano, Ioane at QB Club
Marilyn Moniz-Kaho‘ohanohano, the recently retired UH associate athletics director – senior woman administrator, and Charlinda Ioane, a UH track and field athlete, will be the featured speakers during Monday’s weekly meeting of the Honolulu Quarterback Club at Maple Garden Restaurant.
Moniz-Kaho‘ohanohano, who retired Thursday, spent 28 years with the UH athletic department. She also played volleyball for the Rainbow Wahine.
Ioane qualified in the discus and shot put for the 2016 NCAA Division I West Preliminary Round.
The lunch, which costs $16, starts at 11:30 a.m. and the program at noon. The public is invited.
