>> Rick Hummel of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported Wednesday that Kolten Wong (Kamehameha-Hawaii/Hawaii) will not return to the Cardinals until at least July 14 (the first games after the All-Star break. Meanwhile, Greg Garcia (Hawaii) is expected to see a bump in his playing time with the combination of Wong’s injury and the recent demotion of former starting shortstop Aledmys Diaz.
>> Kean Wong (Waiakea) hit the first grand slam of his career on June 25 in the second inning of the Bulls’ 10-6 win over the Charlotte Knights.

>> Jodd Carter (Hilo) was named the Lynchburg Indians’ player of the week on Friday after going 9-for-23 with a home run, two doubles and three stolen bases. His nine homers this season match his career over three seasons coming into the year.
>> Mark Karaviotis (Maui) went 5-for-5 with three runs scored and two RBIs Saturday in a 10-2 win over the Peoria Chiefs.
>> Josh Rojas (Hawaii) signed with the Astros on Thursday and made his debut with the Quad CIties River Bandits that night. The next day, the 26th-round pick got his first hit, a home run, on his 23rd birthday.
>> Matthew Gunter (Hawaii Pacific) signed with the Blue Jays on June 19 and made his debut with the GCL Blue Jays on Monday.
>> Keoni DeRenne (‘Iolani), hitting coach of the Florida State League’s Bradenton Marauders, earned a spot with the South squad in the FSL All-Star Game, which the North won 5-2 on June 17.
>> UH recruit Jonny Homza, a catcher, signed with the Padres on June 23. He was drafted in the fifth round.
