Zarin Poopaa allowed two hits, struck out 10 and drove in five runs as Mililani KC beat Lone Peak, Utah, 11-1 in four innings Monday at the Pacific Southwest Regional (age 12) in Beaver, Utah.
Poopaa had a double and homer, and Evan Elarionoff and Jaden Miranda also had two hits for Mililani.
Mililani takes on host Beaver today.

The Fire’s Madixx Muramoto struck out six over 4-1⁄3 scoreless innings, while Justin Tilton and Kolby Gushiken each drove in two runs.

Samiere qualifies for U.S. amateur
PJ Samiere fired a 36-hole total of 5-under-par 137 to claim medalist honors at the U.S. Amateur qualifier on Monday at Kapolei Golf Club.
Samiere, a Punahou graduate and incoming senior at San Diego State, earned a spot in the 117th U.S. Amateur Championship set for Aug. 14-20 at Riviera Country Club in Los Angeles.
Samiere posted six birdies on his way to a 67 in his first round and followed with a 70 in the afternoon to finish two shots ahead of Donny Hopoi, the first alternate. Kyosuke Hara is the second alternate after placing third at even-par 142.
Hirano shoots 73 at U.S. Junior Amateur
Honolulu’s Remington Hirano shot a 2-over-par 73 and is tied for 52nd after Monday’s first round of the Boys U.S. Junior Amateur in Andover, Kan.
Brandon Mancheno of Jacksonville, Fla., leads with a 63 at Flint Hills National Golf Club.
The tournament consists of 36 holes of stroke play with the top 64 advancing to match play.
Lau reaches third round at Jeffreys Bay
Hawaii’s Ezekiel Lau defeated Brazil’s Wiggolly Dantas 17.03 to 16.37 in the second round of the Corona Open J-Bay on Monday in Jeffreys Bay, South Africa.
Hawaii’s Sebastian Zietz lost to Italy’s Leonardo Fioravanti 16.63 to 15.76.
