The Korean Cinema series at the Doris Duke Theatre is set for Sept. 2-23 with a lineup of films that will please Hawaii audiences. The series is presented by the Korea Foundation and sponsored by KBFD-TV.
The opening-night reception Sept. 2 will feature O’Kim’s contemporary cuisine paired with Korean soju cocktails and Korean traditional dance starting at 6 p.m. The opening-night film will either be “Warriors of the Dawn” or “Taxi Driver.”
Other films screening include “The Mayor,” “The Net,” “Right Now, Wrong Then,” “On the Beach Alone,” “Our Love Story,” “Gook” and “Anarchist From Colony.”

“Breezy Love”
Episodes 20 and 21
>> Today, 6:30 p.m.: Seeing Mipoong everywhere irks Hayeon. The director relentlessly pursues Mipoong. Jango breaks down in sobs at seeing Mipoong. Shinae is visited by a surprise guest.
>> Today, 7:45 p.m.: Shinae pledges to herself that she’ll hold onto this luxurious life, no matter what. Hayeon and Jango are to be engaged, whereas Mipoong and the director plan their future. Mipoong tells Jango to study abroad, saying that she’s OK.
“Distorted”
Episodes 5-8
>> Monday, 7:45 p.m.: Moo-young is enraged when Eung-mo’s case is closed due to a statute of limitations. So-ra questions the prosecutor office’s investigation and asks for Eung-mo’s confession video. But Moo-young wants to fight it head-on, in his own way.
>> Tuesday, 7:45 p.m.: Moo-young leaves his contact information when Sun-woo refuses to see him. When cornered, Sun-woo threatens Moo-young to prove his innocence. Suk-min pleads Tae-won to reopen Splash Team to get to the truth of Chul-ho’s death.
“Into the World Again”

>> Wednesday, 7:45 p.m.: Hae-sung heads for the fireworks to meet Jung-won. Jung-won heads for the hospital when Min-joon gets into an accident and is hospitalized. The fireworks end and Hae-sung frantically searches for Jung-won. Jung-won is anxious when she can’t get in touch with Hae-sung.
>> Thursday, 7:45 p.m.: Jung-won remembers how she caused Hae-sung’s death and breaks down sobbing, as Min-joon looks at her with pain. Min-joon tells Jung-won that his feelings for her haven’t changed, and Jung-won says she wants to keep their relationship a professional one. Hae-sung has an episode of chest pain again.
“Band of Sisters”
Episodes 33 and 34
>> Friday, 7:45 p.m.: Ha-ri and Ki-chan are accused of being industrial spies, and Se-joon gets them out of trouble. Se-joon promises to marry Dal-hee for helping Ha-ri. Se-joon is in pain, unable to get over his feelings for Ha-ri.
>> Saturday, 7:45 p.m.: Dal-hee and Se-joon prepare for the wedding. Kye-hwa gives Dal-hee the wedding gift list for the family. Deul-re discovers that Kye-hwa was behind the stalker and plans necessary measures.
