Janessa Manzano scored 21 points, going 7-for-10 from 3-point range, and Alysha Marcucci added 15 points as the No. 24 Hawaii Pacific women’s basketball team routed Academy of Art 87-58 on Monday in San Francisco.
Jessi Reeves and Samantha Lambrigtsen each added 14 points for the Sharks (21-2, 15-1 PacWest). The Urban Knights fell to 6-19, 5-12.

Shark men falter against Urban Knights
Niksha Federico had 21 points and 11 rebounds, but the Hawaii Pacific men’s basketball team blew a double-digit lead in the second half of a 67-66 loss to Academy of Art on Monday in San Francisco.
The Sharks (13-11, 8-8 PacWest) led 44-30 with 18:45 left. Federico missed a 3-pointer with seven seconds remaining. The Urban Knights are 10-13, 9-8.
Earlier in the day, Sharks guard Tavon Tarpley was named the PacWest freshman of the week.
Tarpley, of McLean, Va., combined for 26 points and 12 rebounds in victories over Hawaii Hilo and Fresno Pacific.

UH’s Washington tied for second
The University of Hawaii’s Sahara Washington is tied for second at 3-under-par 141 and the Rainbow Wahine are second after Monday’s first round of the Battle at the Rock women’s golf tournament in Riverside, Calif.
Washington and two other players are one stroke behind leader Hana Furuichi of UC Riverside.
Hawaii is at 585 at the Oak Quarry Golf Club. UC Davis leads the 14-team tournament at 579.
Vulcans’ Spain honored by PacWest
Hawaii Hilo sophomore Dylan Spain has been named Pacific West Conference pitcher of the week, the league announced Monday.
Spain, a Saint Louis School graduate, allowed one hit over seven innings in a 3-0 win over Saint Martin’s on Sunday. He walked none and struck out six.
