Two of the three lower seeds were victorious on the first day of the ILH double-elimination baseball tournament on Saturday.
Saint Louis’ Richie Vidal tossed a no-hitter to lead the fifth-seeded Crusaders to a 6-0 win over No. 4 seed Kamehameha at Central Oahu Regional Park.
Vidal walked one and struck out five for Saint Louis (7-9), which will play at No. 1 seed Mid-Pacific on Monday.
Charles Lopez went 3-for-4 with a run scored and two RBIs and Hunter Peneueta was 3-for-4 with two doubles, a run scored and an RBI for the Crusaders.
Punahou, which just 24 hours earlier was playing for a possible playoff against Mid-Pacific for the regular-season title, was upset 3-1 by sixth-seeded Maryknoll at CORP.
Hailama Swartman hit a two-out, two-run single in the top of the first inning and Tyler Quinn went 2-for-2 with a walk and two runs scored for the Spartans (6-10).
Justice Yamashita allowed one run and five hits and struck out five in 62⁄3 innings to earn the win.
He had to be pulled with two outs in the seventh inning after reaching the 105-pitch limit. Drayden Yamauchi came in and promptly walked two hitters to load the bases for Kyson Donahue, who flied out to end it.
‘Iolani, which earned the No. 2 seed with a win over Punahou on Friday, beat seventh-seeded Pac-Five 8-1 at Hans L’Orange Park.
The Raiders, who have won six in a row and nine of 10, will play Maryknoll on Monday at Ala Wai park.
