I think it is tragic that America had 72,000 drug overdoses in 2017. During America’s unfortunate involvement in Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom, we lost about 4,500 American soldiers and countless Iraqis.
Our human losses in one year to the war on drugs is enormous compared to years of warfare at a cost of trillions of dollars.
We probably have 10 million addicts in the country and 45,000 addicts here in Hawaii. We need to focus some resources on treatment for these oftentimes anti- social people, like many of the homeless, for example.
