The Star-Advertiser editorial, “Stop practice of ‘gut and replace’,” (Our View, Sept. 13) was very concerning to me. Auwe!
Our legislators must respect due process and the public’s right to three hearings on bills. Those gutted bills were replaced with entirely different subject matter without going through the legal process.
I am calling out our Senate and House leadership to stop these kinds of practices. The ends do not justify the means. These shenanigans need to stop.
The Office of Information Practices, the state attorney general and our Supreme Court must act.
I am grateful to Common Cause of Hawaii and the League of Women Voters for taking action.
