Lee Cataluna’s harsh criticism of Gov. David Ige’s lack of communication skills and lack of personality (“Ige’s not hiding, but he’s totally dodging,” Star-Advertiser, Sept. 19) has nothing to do with his purported “hiding” or “dodging.” It is an irrelevant and unfair personal attack.
She bemoans what she characterizes as Ige’s poor communication skills and his lack of personal warmth, while praising Andria Tupola’s “rapid-fire, high-voltage” speaking style and the kind of personal warmth that “David Ige couldn’t fake if his life depended on it.”
Seriously?
Whether Ige has done a good-enough job as governor, and whether Republican candidate Tupola would do a better job, are up for fair debate and will be the subject of in-depth and analytical articles. But Cataluna’s focus on his/her speaking style and the temperature of his/her personality are hurtful and not helpful.
