I am from a family of Democrats going back three generations.
However, U.S. Sen. Mazie Hirono’s comments not only are embarrassing for all men but also personally insulting to my understanding of what “due process” means for any citizen of America who is accused of a horrific crime.
Without hearing directly from Brett Kavanaugh’s accuser, Christine Blasey Ford, Hirono said that Ford must not only be heard but must be believed.
Although I voted for Hirono in the past, she now has alienated a large portion of her constituency who are men with her ignorant, prejudged remark. I thought Hirono was a seasoned attorney, not a layman like myself.
Is she essentially stating by virtue of a genetic coin toss that all women are truthful and all men are liars? As a father of daughters, I find this prejudgment extremely insulting to me and offensive to all men.
I for one am standing up and not shutting up.
