In response to schools Superintendent Christina Kishimoto’s commentary about bullying (“DOE committed to stop bullying,” Star-Advertiser, Island Voices, Sept. 19): The state should do much more to stop the bullying of the teachers and staff of our schools.

Bullying is a process of denying others from doing what they want to do.

By not funding the people who educate out keiki, the Legislature is bullying teachers.

Teachers need and deserve to be paid a living wage, which, according to the paper, is $78,000 per year (“Struggling to keep up,” Star-Advertiser, Sept. 19). That should be the beginning salary of a new teacher.
