I was deeply moved when I read the article about KHON-2 morning anchor Ross Shimabuku, who came home from the mainland to help with caregiving for his aging parents (“For Mom and Dad,” Live Well, Sept. 11).
Recently, I lost my very dear girlfriend, after her son sacrificed himself to caregiving for his mother for the last five years.
Like Ross, Mike also moved in to live with his mom, so he could watch her 24 hours a day. I had never seen him complain.
All I can say is, what a great son he is.
We hear or see nothing about pleasant news nowadays. We still have hope.
Ross, keep up with the good work, both as an anchor and caregiver for your father.
