Nothing better illustrates how awful foreign ownership and outside management of our hotels is for Hawaii nei than the current forced strike at several hotels owned by Kyo-ya and managed by Marriott.
These cheapskates have offered Hawaii workers only pennies per hour as a raise and want to take part of that out of the workers’ benefits. Hewa! And this when Hawaii hotels are making their largest profits ever, with countless millions of dollars from those profits going out of state.
This calls for action to support our people. I urge all residents to support our Local 5 strikers by boycotting all Marriott-managed hotels. Let’s join the strikers as they picket these hotels to show them our support. Call the management at each hotel to tell them what we think of them for short-changing and oppressing their workers.
