I do not want to criticize U.S. Sen. Mazie Hirono. She has brought enough damage upon herself with her “shut up and step up” comment.
If that were an isolated incident, it might be OK. But when we observe her in most other situations, we see her behavior as consistently erratic. Behavior matters; and ever more so when you are a U.S. senator representing a state.
It is our good fortune, here in Hawaii, that we have a viable alternative to Hirono.
While Ron Curtis is on the Republican ticket, he appears to be a moderate, common-sense sort of guy. With his background as a NASA systems engineer, he is inclined toward problem-solving. His pledge to donate his salary (short of expenses) to children’s charities in Hawaii should tell us something about his character.
I think we should give Ron Curtis a close look before casting our ballots.
