Those people benefiting from the “Our Care, Our Choice” act are to be congratulated, even as the larger number of victims continues to suffer perplexingly, bafflingly (“Weighing options,” Star-Advertiser, Oct. 17).
As one of them, l continue to be astounded by the ignorance that misses the point. At 80 years old, and forced to live out my remaining years under conditions that, to me, are not worth living under and worsening, why should I have to? Those living under conditions tolerable to them need not be affected. My right to my life and its exit should be as sacrosanct as the human desire to be free. And of course we want rules protecting those less capable of making such decisions.
