With 11 children of his own, Frank Fasi would have solved the problem of no shelter for 400 to 600 of our young homeless.
Fasi’s creative ingenuity and gut wisdom would have saved them from sexual predators, traffickers and “survival sex” for food.
Faced with the defecation problem in Waikiki, Fasi would have immediately placed portable toilets and hot showers in discriminating locations, sparing our tourists.
Fasi was a man of insight and long-term thinking.
Larry Ellison bought Lanai because he loved it — it doesn’t get any better than that. Then he innovatively set about creating agricultural land that could one day sustain Lanai. He is heeding the calls of Kioni Dudley (“Hawaii food threat is real, so start planning now,” Star-Advertiser, Island Voices, July 10), and of Randy Cabral (“Support farming via evidence-based policies, rules,” Star-Advertiser, Island Voices, May 1).
