ACLU accuses Kahala Nui retirement home of discrimination for its ban on medically assisted death

    The American Civil Liberties Union accuses the Kahala Nui retirement home of discriminating against non-Catholic residents by not allowing them to take advantage of the state’s new medically assisted death law.

    Gov. David Ige signed House Bill 2739, the Our Care, Our Choice Act, in April, making Hawaii the seventh jurisdiction to have an end-of-life choice.
