Some random pedestrian suggestions:
>> I believe it is also my responsibility to stay alive and uninjured while walking, rather than merely depending upon someone I don’t even know to avoid hitting me with their car, bicycle, skateboard, moped or whatever. Stay alert and pay attention.
>> If you think you are too poor to pay attention, just wait until you see the cost of your hospital bills.
>> Don’t answer your cell phone while crossing the street. It might be the Grim Reaper calling.
>> Riders of mopeds, bicycles and skateboards often ignore one-way street arrows. Look both ways before crossing.
>> On smaller residential side streets, hedges, plants or bushes sometimes create blind corners. Be extra alert for the unforeseen.
>> Offer a smile to fellow walkers, especially slow, old people with walkers and canes, moms with kids, and the disabled. They often smile back.
