There is enough blame to go around, so stop blaming others. Everyone needs to do their part to reduce traffic deaths.
I would like to adopt a system similar to those in other countries and cities. Absolutely no turns while the walk signal is on. I’ve almost been struck down by a vehicle turning right while the walk signal was still on.
Japan also has a loud signal (chirping) at the intersection to indicate walking is allowed. When the signal stops, pedestrians need to be out of the crosswalk.
The law and rules we have on the books seem to be very vague. Nobody, pedestrians or drivers, follows them.
