Congratulations to the University of Hawaii football team for becoming bowl-eligible. Every year, I cringe when the visiting team(s) to the Hawaii Bowl are shown on national TV at one of those fake luaus, the type where they slap grass skirts on unsuspecting audience members and have them dance foolishly around.

I humbly suggest the organizers of the Hawaii Bowl instead take them somewhere to really become educated about Hawaiian history and culture. They are here as college student-athletes, after all. Maybe visit the Bishop Museum and then have a buffet dinner on the lawn with real music and hula?
