Obviously President Donald Trump values money more than other values, like those of democracy, free speech, free press, knowledge, truth, morality, ethics, rights, law, justice, peace, environment and science.
He devalues the brutal murder and dismemberment of Washington Post journalist Jamal Khashoggi by Saudi agents, claiming that profit from selling weapons to their government is more important.
Save the Children conservatively estimates that in Yemen, 85,000 children under age 5 have died from acute malnutrition because of the Saudi blocking of ports — a war crime. More weapons guarantee more suffering and death, but war is good for business.
According to The Washington Post, the Saudi government spent $270,000 last year at the Trump International Hotel in Washington, D.C., despite the Constitution’s emoluments clause and Trump’s inaugural oath.
Any person who values little else than money is a disgrace and can be dangerous, and all the more so if in the presidency.
