Lee Cataluna’s column on the proposed children’s playground at Ala Moana Beach Regional Park should be read by all those involved (“World-class beach is already a playground,” Star-Advertiser, Dec. 7).
She is absolutely correct. I doubt that families go there looking for swings, slides, zip lines, etc. They go there to swim, surf, picnic and many other things.
I have never heard a child complain about being bored at Ala Moana because there isn’t a playground. As was stated, build it where it is needed. Mother Waldron Park is an excellent location, as is that very big open space on Ala Moana Boulevard between Cooke and Ohe streets that is usually occupied by homeless people.
If the Kobayashi Group and its partners want to build a playground, build one for all of Kakaako, and not just for those living in their properties.
