Christmas Day is fast approaching. It’s another reminder to express our gratitude for the good things we’ve received and show compassion for those who are less fortunate.
Most of us will be enjoying this momentous day with our loved ones and friends. But for many others, the day is just another day without food and shelter. Loneliness is their constant companionship.
This eventful day gives us an opportunity to rekindle the flames of kindness and help the poor and the hungry — specifically the homeless who keep on moving, uncertain where they can take shelter. Also, the poor working families who are striving to free themselves from the torturous grip of poverty.
Despite our ideological, cultural and political differences, we remain a big-hearted people. Compassion is one of our defining traits and one way to preserve it is to help the needy so they, too, can have a joyous holiday season.
