Thanks, Star-Advertiser — I enjoyed your excellent kindness feature in the Sunday paper (“A kinder, gentler time,” Star-Advertiser, Insight). My younger and more beautiful sister uses this phrase, making it a regular practice in her life. When she notices someone showing kindness, she gets their attention, often touching them to say, “Kindness is easy, pass this secret along.”

I have witnessed the smiles and uplifting moments many times while standing in lines, buying stuff and attending events. Her message is to bring kindness into reality especially with younger people in the service industry. It is so gentle, I have never observed her being rejected or rebuffed. Most people thank her and promise to tell the secret to someone else. I encourage other people to try to engage people in the same way.
