“My portrait of Mpho Moloi Ernst was result of a simple question. I asked if she was ready to have some fun. The aim was to have her show off the box braids of her hair of which she was obviously proud of. Taken in our newsroom photo studio, I had her repeatedly fling her head and hair back from a leaning-forward position.
