Blaming President Donald Trump for causing locals to think negatively and not like illegal fireworks (“Trump’s negativity infects communities,” Star- Advertiser, Letters, Jan. 5)?
Hogwash.
The “tip of the iceberg” in the letter is the fact that lots of people don’t like Trump, and can’t find enough things to blame him for.
As for “illegal fireworks,” locals don’t like illegal fireworks because they are illegal, and most folks understand what illegal means. Illegal fireworks are not only dangerous, but the noise can cause distress for animals, the elderly and those with special needs.
Setting off illegal fireworks is not only inconsiderate, but it teaches the youngsters in the home that they do not have to abide by the law.
If the thinking needs to be changed, let it start with our elected officials who should be insisting on enforcement of the laws that they enacted.
