I have been reading other letters about the illegal use of fireworks and want to put in my 2-cents worth.
I’m so tired of spending New Year’s Eve hunkered down with pets, wondering if an aerial is going to land on the roof of one of our buildings in the condo complex where I live in Kaneohe. We’re right next to Heeia Elementary School and scofflaws have been shooting off aerials every night since Halloween. The school just built a brand-new gymnasium on the property and I was worried that it would get hit and go up in flames.
Fireworks permits are a joke.
Every dog in the neighborhood was going nuts every time a bomb exploded.
It feels like being a prisoner in your own home when you have to shut the doors and windows and retreat to a back bedroom just to get a little relief.
This is not “cultural.” It’s abuse.
