Jordan Lee wants to enlighten us as to the benefits of allowing dogs in restaurants (“Welcome dogs as part of our ohana,” Star-Advertiser, Letters, Jan. 13).
Here is another view: I took my 2-year-old son to a restaurant. He was bored, and wanted to walk around. He didn’t hurt or offend anyone, but his actions were inappropriate for that restaurant, so I asked to make our order take-out. The waiter was visibly thankful.
I don’t think other diners felt my son was creating a “more compassionate and socially conscious engagement” because he’s ohana. Will Lee happily sit near a crying baby in a restaurant, because it’s someone’s ohana?
Banning pets from restaurants isn’t discrimination; it’s being considerate.
