It is obvious that all branches of government are failing the country. We are electing people who are not qualified to make rational decisions, whether it be local or national. Americans no longer elect politicians for their character, but for their biases.
The city and state governments have been making colossal blunders with the old stadium, rail, school system, missile crisis and the ongoing issues with the Honolulu Police Department.
The federal government has shut down, with no consideration for the hundreds of thousands of employees not getting paid, and many on the verge of bankruptcy, evictions and more — all because of personal egos, political divisions, racists and bullies. This will severely impact the economy throughout the nation.
Whatever happened to the “government of the people, by the people, for the people” that President Abraham Lincoln once praised?
We need to elect people who are dedicated to provide public service and are willing to compromise. That is what will make America great again.
