In recent years, my life took a dramatic change when my significant other convinced me to become a dog owner. I will reluctantly admit that the journey of raising a puppy into an adult dog was extremely challenging, but also very rewarding.

This is why I am excited to hear that the Hawaiian Humane Society is supporting a bill to give restaurants the ability to allow dogs onto their property. While I understand some may not agree, I feel that restaurants should be given the freedom to cater to potential customers such as me.

With that said, I do understand that this proposed law also would give those restaurants the freedom to deny my furry guest as well. I also understand that should my dog not behave, that the restaurant has full authority to remove me from their establishment.

This bill is about giving restaurants a choice. That’s all it is.
