With our government in so much disarray, we are forgetting the one area that needs the most attention, our own community members.
With the possibility that our government will shut down in March, support services such as SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) would be postponed. Hundreds of thousands of our citizens may go hungry.
We need to find an alternative for supplementing our food sources and address our food insecurities. We should invest in our food banks since they are nonprofit agencies. Monetary donations are tax-deductible, so it’s a win-win for everyone. Donors get a tax writeoff and our hungry community members are able to obtain food for survival.
We need to stand united more than ever. Donate to our nonprofit food banks so we all can benefit from investing in our community.
