Last year, pipe bombs were mailed to a former Democratic president and other prominent members of the Democratic Party, in an apparent attempt to assassinate them.
Just recently, a Coast Guard officer was accused of plotting to kill liberal journalists and Democratic politicians. According to authorities, both suspects are ardent supporters of President Donald Trump.
Political pundits say these incidents were inspired by Trump’s incessant threats of retribution against political opponents and critics, and that his constant use of racially charged words sparked the commission of violent acts.
Trump’s vitriol-filled rhetoric nurtures a climate of hatred, promotes cultural war and foments racial division. He stirs racial animosity by preying on people’s fears and prejudices.
America’s bitter polarization, erosion of our democratic principles, increase in politically motivated violence, Trump’s attempts to destroy the guardrails of democracy, rampant corruption in Trump’s presidency and Republicans’ refusal to repudiate Trump’s despicable behavior, are tell-tale signs that America is drifting closer and closer to another revolution.
